RECREATIONAL SOCCER
"Volunteers needed to line fields! Whether your child is playing rec or travel soccer,
if you have an hour or two to spare, we need your help to keep the fields lined throughout the soccer season.
The Fayetteville-Manlius Soccer Club has established divisions on the basis of grade level in school. Once registered, players will be assigned to a team in the appropriate division. Players will be contacted by their coach before the beginning of each season.
Each division link has the division rules and game schedules listed for the current season.
GAME CANCELLATIONS:
The FM Soccer Club makes every effort to play all games as scheduled - soccer is played in the rain and cold. Games are played in poor weather and/or with one or both teams short of players. The following are the only circumstances that dictate a game being cancelled:
1) At anytime, 20 minutes prior to game time or any time during a game, if either lightning has been seen or thunder heard, the game is cancelled immediately. Players, coaches and fans must leave the field at once. If your team has an assigned referee (grades 3 and above), the referee will officially cancel the remainder of the game. For Micro K, 1st and 2nd grades that do not have referees, coaches will make the decision. Once the game is cancelled, everyone is to leave the fields - do not stay to see if the storm "passes" - you are done for the day. Absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.
2) If, after arriving at the fields, a referee determines the field is unplayable, the game will be cancelled. Reasons for this may include "standing water" on the field or any other unsafe field or equipment conditions. For the grade levels without referees, upon arrival at the game, both coaches should discuss the situation and can cancel the game for the reasons listed here.
3) It is rare to have a game cancelled for any other reason than cited above. If a scheduled game can not be played due to extenuating circumstances (such as a major team illness where 50% or greater of the players can not make the game), and a coach has prior knowledge of this, the coach is to notify both the Referee Coordinator (peter.tantalo@rocktenn.com) and the opposing coach. This notification must be done at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled game.
If a game is cancelled for any of the above circumstances - it will not be rescheduled.
